  • Been using the Glove80 for over a year now and I love it.
Everything about it is exactly what I wanted from an ergonomic keyboard and it’s also very customizable.
It’s been very comfortable for me from the moment I got it up until now. And while I used to like rough PBT keycaps texture, I’ve learned to enjoy the Glove80’s smooth POM keycaps.
I had only one keyboard before it which I could consider as “ergo” and have used for quite a bit - The Sweep. I liked it, but the limited amount of keys ended up being an annoyance for me. Especially when gaming. Plus the Glove80’s curve and palm rest make it substantially more comfortable for me, despite it being a larger keyboard.

There are only 2 things left on my checklist for the “perfect ergo keyboard”:

    • Lighter switches - I got the red chocs before the red pro chocs were an option. I’m thinking of soldering the 20g ambient switches though.
    • Pointing input module - There was some work going on about an Orbital v2 touchpad integration with the Glove80. But I haven’t heard anything about it since (I think it’s been over a year).

So I’ve been eyeing the Svalboard.
I’m not sure it’ll fit my needs as it isn’t wireless and has less keys. But I love everything else about it.

  • Personally I use Newmaxx’s site and spreadsheet which has more indepth information about the SSDs like their controllers and NAND type - https://borecraft.com/
You can also check their subreddit for some reviews and such.
That and some stats from Backblaze and general reviews.
And I use price trackers to make sure I’m getting a good price.

I don’t like going by specific brands, because they all have some less ideal models and some of them tend to change some of the components after a while.

  • I might have misunderstood you, but data transferred inside the tailnet will always be encrypted by Tailscale.
So if you’re connected to a public wifi and someone’s looking at your traffic, accessing a random http site would be clear text, but accessing an http site inside your tailnet will be encrypted.

Unless you define an exit node and tell Tailscale to use it. And then all your traffic will be encrypted from the view of the one looking at your traffic logs from the public wifi (and clear text from the exit node to the random http site).

  • Might want to give Glove80 a look. And since it sounds like you prefer light switches like me, there’s a version with pro red switches (35g).
Maybe also hop in to MoErgo’s Discord and get some ideas there.

I started with a Ferris Sweep (34 keys), and while I loved a lot of things about it, those weren’t enough keys for me, I had to compromise too much + I realized a wireless split would be much more comfortable to me than a wired one.
Although I like having the option to use it wired.
