you can use https://browser.pub I like it very much for that use case :)
Yeah that meant only that we have two different “tabs” or “areas” for the thread side (lemmy) and the microblog side (mastodon)
Hi there mbin dev here. The interaction with mastodon is possible: you can follow people, you can see posts from people from mastodon (just in the “microblog” tab, not the “threads” tab), but it has not been the main focus since mbin was created and has therefore not made huge progress. We have plans to improve the microblog side of things (or at least I have), but there were just so many behind the scene problems with the code that needed fixing (and still need improvements) so we focused more on that.
I will not promise anything, but I want to have threads and microblogs in the same list and I am thinking of adding a “timeline” tab that works more like the microblog style that people know. However development has not started on that, yet and we therefore do not have a release with which this is expected or even an ETA.
do you know of an actual instance of it? gush.social isn’t one as far as I can tell :D
Yeah it seems very chinese focused. Some views like when you try to mark a movie as watched have a lot of chinese in it.
very nice
The premise of it looks very nice. The UI looks very barebones though
very nice. I will give it a try as well (after the holidays though)
I don’t really understand the readme. Is the creation done in a cli or in the jellyfin UI?
I was missing this feature in jellyfin and this would be really great (I switched from plex which has it and I used it a lot 😅)
On the fediverse the core point of microblogging is: you have to follow people. So if you see a post that is in your opinion good for whatever reason, just go ahead and follow them. The next thing to do is to use hashtags. On mastodon this will greatly improve the visibility of the post. And third for me is: just comment on other people’s posts and post your own and you will be golden
I don’t know why it wouldn’t… It just communicates with your lemmy server right? And lemmy accounts are able to follow mbin magazines / communities like any other community. Just try to follow !firefox@fedia.io
Yes it does federate with lemmy
there is !AskMbin@thebrainbin and also the matrix chat: https://matrix.to/#/#mbin:melroy.org if you need mbin specific help in the future :)
I think a lot of artists are on https://mastodon.art
Just for the people interested in mbin, here are a few magazine/community pointers:
I am part of the mbin team and I am really tired of hearing shittalking about us without any reason. Nobody has any reason to call us anything but passionate.
When melroy started the fork, really weird accusations were thrown around without being based on anything…
AP has a tool for that called inbox forwarding and mastodon uses it for sharing the comments under posts. It works like this: you send a reply to a user with their follower collection as the recipient. You of course cannot know who is following that user, however they than just forward this reply to the follower collection, because the server knows that it has authority over that collection. https://www.w3.org/TR/activitypub/#inbox-forwarding
Its not really a “not playing well” with each other, it is just the mastodon works. That is the reason why most toots in my mastodon timeline have 0 favourites (upvotes) and only a few boosts… I don’t know why they do it, because at the minimum the followers of that user should be notified about that like…
Nope Interstellar is still solo
