Nobody seriously expects Lemmy to last that much longer than Voat and similar “alternatives”.

Yeah, 50-500 users is the sweet spot for a community. That’s what we should aim for.

51·3 years agoGonna be honest, Fediverse is alpha as shit.
In terms of being unfinished, not chad-like.
This is gonna take a whiiiiiile to get real good, if reworking these things is even on the table.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Does it feel like the fediverse is exclusively used by older tech nerds?English
4·3 years agoPartial centralization could perhaps work democratically, If we randomly distribute users to the top five, we’d get a pentumvirate.
One thing I’d like to see is the ability for a user to change servers, to migrate their account. Even if they need to name change. Idk if it could also be set up to automatically forward any mentions of the old username if the user wants that, andalso automatically setting up a link to their migrated account from the old one.

3·3 years agoYes, sounds like there should be Meta’s fake, desecrated version of “ActivityPub”, and the actual Fediverse version of ActivityPub that does not budge to any of Meta’s interests.
I swear, Lemmy users act like they are completely in favor of an instance of 40 users and a submission every other week. Seeing scale as inherently bad.
Lemmy will fucking roll over and die within the year.
