I use the Kodi app on my smart tv to watch movies and shows shared from my server via SMB, never had any problems, aside from green tint on some HDR encodings. My TV’s wired tho.

Yes but I don’t know why
I use NUT with an Eaton Ellipse but it periodically stops working and I’m forced to restart the container
I used to have a Nextcloud instance on a shared webhost… It ran like shit but you can’t beat the storage space… VPS storage is expensive.
Now I use syncthing on my home server
There’s no rules here
“Please Mr. Router, mercy!”
Shit, let’s hope the ICANN cops don’t find me out then… I’ve been using it for years!
I think an older Ryzen and an RX590 can be had for decent prices, no?
Patient gamers at least have the steam deck option now
Mikrotik is great for their price/performance ratio, but if you’re not a networking pro, some things might be hard
Wait you mean without file synchronization?
WITH file synchronization you’d use nextcloud-client, obviously, otherwise I think GNOME file manager can connect to a nextcloud instance and browse files without downloading them
That’s what I’ve done as well, hard drives passed through, RAIDZ created on the NAS itself. It’s worked great so far.
My current server is proxmox2, guess why. It runs servers HassOS, OMV and so on… My desktop is called desktop and my laptop is called with its brand. 🤷
ZFS is default on Proxmox

I have an hex s and it’s great, but it’s a pain in the ass to setup if you’re not an expert at this stuff.
Terrible choice of name, ladder is the name of a popular programming language for industrial automation, googling it would be a nightmare
Just like @BearOfaTime@lemm.ee suggested, Syncthing-fork works fine for now, I’ve been using it on my phone to sync logseq notes and I haven’t had any issues so far
