Boo. Go away Zuck and take your shitty vertical videos with you.
Hey congratulations you discovered a statistical anomaly.
So what is its “unique vision” and how badly had it been co-opted by racists?
It’s not surprised. He’s acting surprised because he got caught. It’s pretty standard for these jerkass tech bros. “Move fast break things” is code “break laws be unethical” - as I think we’ve all seen if you do it often and fast enough you can keep way ahead of any kind of accountability because everybody else is trying to play catch up well the last thing has already filtered out of the news cycle.
Not enough people have left Reddit for it, mostly niche hobby groups. Which means sometimes I end up back on Reddit briefly to read something or more rarely post/reply.
Short form and vertical format both suck, so meh. I’d rather they did proper video hosting to compete with regular Youtube, though that would cost way more to pull off so I’m not holding my breath.
The moderators of Wikipedia are largely a small, insular community that don’t always care about accuracy when it comes from anyone outside their clique.
This is where I learned the word tankies. It sounds like British slang honestly.
No surprise. After a surge of reactionary, or curiosity, based signups, some will inevitably loose interest. In particular, the ‘bottom 10%’ of users, who weren’t/wouldn’t contribute anything of substance anyway, or possibly were annoyed by some feature or another that was different than Reddit. I similarly don’t care that more people haven’t moved from Reddit to Lemmy, as the majority who haven’t would likely make the place worse. When everyone can interact with something with even the most meager barriers to entry removed, the quality always declines.
It doesn’t need to be. It just needs to be better than Reddit, which it is. That’s enough to make me happy.
I suspect they had to jump on it when Elon shat the bed over the weekend. Suckerberg probably saw that disasterpiece and was like “quick, spit-shine the dev build and go live!”
I dunno, they have to climb all the way down to the ground once a week to poop. That sounds like a lot of effort.
We don’t. Normies made Reddit suck and they’ll make Lemmy suck too. Always have at least a small barrier to tech entry. When anyone can use it then everyone will use it. So do you want Facebook? Because that’s how you end up with fucking Facebook.
