I have like two servers total and if one breaks I will just start again. It’d take more time to set up terraform than it would to get it working again from a fresh install.


When I started living in a shared house I wrote a Python+GTK app to split bills. It worked but it’s shonky as hell. It was my first time writing a database schema!


I’m interested in the same question but more broadly: currently everything gets automatically backed up to Google, or mindlessly shared to Google. I see that Immich supports backing up folders, but I’m worried about missing an app and not backing stuff up or something like that.


That sounds like a level of detail it is not necessarily useful to go into with most people. I never experienced anyone non-technical complaining about cloud products, so it would just be proselytising about what to me is a hobby/passion project.
(Not that I’m big into self hosting, but to the extent I am)
