I’m sure it’s so they can also slowly add features of their own and slowly make their platform better
Idk just seeing threads makes me think of EEE so thank you lemmy you have trained me well

Exactly
I also love that our admin sees defederation as the nuclear option which is what it is

In my unbiased opinion you chose a great instance
So it is a two way wall if only one side defederates
Ah that makes sense thanks
So please correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t defederation two ways, like if my instance (lemm.ee) defederates from threads, doesn’t threads not see any lemmy posts anymore.
Assuming im not horribly wrong (and even if I am at least we won’t be able to interact with threads users) what’s the problem if we don’t see content.
And don’t get me wrong I’m 100% against threads federating and I feel like I’m missing something but what’s the problem when defederation is a tool?
I did it on the web page
So I go to lemm.ee the website then go to all my account settings from (I think) that little hamburger menu
then where there’s all the checkboxes one will say “show bot accounts” and just uncheck that
I browse exclusively on mobile and both on Avelon and Memmy I haven’t seen bot posts. Comments it’s a coin flip imo
I turned off the ability to see bot accounts in my lemmy setting and it has vastly improved my experience
My take away from this is lemmy is so good it’s actually a gravitational singularity pretending to be a social network
Yo how do you manage to block them I swear I block one and 15 more pop up
At least they’re labeled bot so it’s easy to block
I’d say it’s more hopping on the buzzword train and maybe even following through. Although you can check my comment history I don’t much about this federation and instance stuff I don’t see how a for profit company finds a home in a non profit whatever-lemmy-is. Plus on top of that even if they somehow did become prominent I’m sure all the lemmy admins would eventually great a single server or small network servers that are private from meta
Two sentence horror
