I get annoyed how putting a source in is not consistantly done with many of them. when you follow up and ask for them you generally get them but im going to look that over. I like when the answer looks like a wikipedia article with little number references.

I love the user level control. block urls, instances, communities, users. I really would love like trust cafe where you can rank things from 0-100 where 0 is block and 100 is subscribe and your feed will prioritize posts from things you rank higher for the in between values.

Id like to see non for profits hosting servers for their members. fandom conventions, maker spaces, etc. It would also make sense for them to host communities around what they do. scifi literature, games, 3d printing, etc.

I mean sure but again that is akin to ebay. ebay is amazone without the warehouses, shipping, and logistics intelligence and organization. so anyone that wants to avoid amazon could use ebay right now but they don’t because they want the benefits of the fast shipping and returns and such. again I think having some sort of federated marketplace would be great but it would in no way be like ordering from amazon.

There is no real point. You did not seem to get what the other person said and so I added it to make it a bit more clear on why its not an amazon replacement because amazon does so much more. Its just sorta how conversations involving a few people work. Im not just talking about the last thing you said but about the whole read down the line.

nothing outside of what the other person said. it would be more akin to federated ebay rather than federated amazon and still will lack some of ebays benefits. Don’t get me wrong I think its a good idea viewed in that way. I mean better than craigslist which is not even federated.

I don’t see how you think its noise. Many items from amazon come from an amazone warehouse and delivered by amazon. they don’t exclusively do it this way but this is how they have the same day and few day shipping. I remember when amazon went from mostly being a book site to selling everything and people were gaga about 2 day shipping and when same day shipping came to some metros it was talked about a lot. I think the main thing is the other guy mentioned logistics and aws but forgot to mention the warehouse and shipping part of the logistics.

I did a thing like this but with a ios command that wrote the disk to image and piped it to ssh but then piped it back to a waiting drive. It was great as you could pull the disk and boot right off it. Do you know if that can be done with dd?

I have linkedin and facebook and its exculsively to just keep up contacts and I look for work on linkedin and occasionaly bitch at some corp on facebook.

sigh. im no sure why my initial thing is not clear. I was saying it would be great if posts from a community was spread out so that when going through your feed you see a greater vareity rather than seeing them clumped up. this is not about not wanting to see particular things. A cat community will have cat pictures. if I did not want to see them I could block the community from all. but I like cat pictures as much as the next person. pets are cute. if posts are put by one person all at the same time though then you get a bunch in a row as opposed to intersped between communities. So the tool from the original post seemed cool and I am hoping folks use them if so inclined. thats all.

well so you could have several cat pictures lets say but they are not of the same cat and its not doing the same thing or many various articles about trump. different things and actions. one about the trial another about greenland another about immigrants, etc. no direct duplicates just causes the feed to be streaky.

sorry was not talking dupes just many posts like pictures of the same type or 6 news articles in a row or whatnot.
