If I tap your testicles is something supposed to happen?

It’s top of ‘hot’ on Voyager via Lemmy.world now.
Righto :)
I was thinking of usb3 hard drives. No need for internal storage if using spinning rust.
On older laptops with optical drives you can sometimes replace the drive with a sata tray and add a second drive that way.
But yes, a server that looks like a server and can recover after power loss is useful.
A cheap laptop might also be worth considering? Built in UPS that way, and sometimes UPSes have a large standby power usage. Would support a couple of bus powered drives as well.
Main drawback is no recovery if the battery drains fully.
I don’t think I’ll ever take off while it’s called Lemmy. It’s just not a word that sounds ‘good’ in my opinion.
I don’t think mbin existed at that time. For a long time I was on kbin on desktop and Artemis on Android. Artemis kinda evaporated, and eventually I settled on Voyager, which meant I needed a lemmy.world amount. I still used kbin on desktop but it became less and less reliable.
A shame about kbin. It’s where I landed as well but eventually had to move to lemmy.world.
I wonder if there would be enough data on archive.org to rebuild your community? I guess not given users who moved might not have kepth the same usernames.
Every morning /kbin is working on some issues.
Novelty only.
Keeping real fish is tedious and time consuming.
If you get tired of that, you can probably turn it into a virtual fish tank and Johnny Castaway machine. (1GHz atom, 1gb RAM, XP)
I think we need that anyway.
Having 10-20% of posts on Voyager in non English language is a pest. So many things to block.
I turned my ten year old Toshiba i7 with a cracked LCD into a virtual fish tank after the last fish died.
I still use it for the various buy swap sell and town info groups. It’s a handy place to keep up to date with what’s happening in small towns. As a result, the sponsored content isn’t in the way much.
