I had to leave a Mastodon instance because it was about activism, gaza and politics the whole fucking day. So I perfectly understand what you feel. But I think there are ways and/or servers where everybody can feel comfortable. The mastodon server where I’m on right now, people talks about US stuff the whole day, and I’m very annoyed because of that because I don’t give a damn shit about US. But the admin is cool, people support Ukraine, and I follow funny stuff too.

Block communities spamming gaza / war / techbro
I would agree with you if those communities were/are created to post content about gaza / war / techbro. But in most cases, those communities are generic, about news and technology, so when you block them, you also block other content that is not about gaza / war / techbro.
Fourth panel, meaning Corporate & Tankie Fediverse vs Free Fediverse.
Does it shadowban mentions of Kbin/Mbin or Piefed too?
I was about to left Lemmy/Kbin for good when some stupid fascists from Lemmy(grad).ml called me names and harassed me, despite the fact that I’m neurodivergent (like that would stop them from doing such actions, but anyway). And then I started blocking every community and user from those places, as well as any community/magazine about US politics or about any US topic because I don’t give a damn heck about that place. And my experience improved really well.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy.world removes its rules against discrimination
82·2 years agoThe federal government sets the bare minimum protections for people in United States, not in other countries of the world. And internet covers the entire world, not only United States. That’s how I see it.
Too many fascists harassing, bullying and arguing in bad faith have this effect too.
Specially politics. Even meme communities are becoming a politics cesspool, at least that meme community of lemmy.ml, or 196 of lemmy.blahaj.zone (in a lesser way, but still), or gaming communities. Damn, do I have to block every single community of every single instance to really enjoy lemmy/kbin without being bombarded 24 hours with politics? And the funny/sad thing is that moderators and administrators don’t even care.
How can we make it more popular?
Defederating tankies, nazis, fascists, bigots and other awful elements; forcing moderators and administrators to do their job when bad behaviours occur, and respectfully disagree with other people instead of calling them names or mocking them.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Fediverser: bring content and users from legacy social media networks into the fediverse
1·3 years agoI agree that bots shouldn’t spam content, but help people on command, like the TL;DR bot. But why was Reddit garbage? Was it for its bots, or was it for its toxic environment? Because, in my own opinion and experience, bots weren’t a big deal over there. Instead, who was the brave enough person able to comment and face all kind of shit just because his/her comment?
Don’t ignore the whole garbage hiding under the carpet half of it and expose the other half to the people claiming “I don’t want this filth.”

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy is popular nowadays, yet is losing its active users
6·3 years agoWhy don’t we, instead, sacrifice u/spez to the gods, so they have mercy of us?
Wow, old reddit UI for lemmy! That’s freaking awesome!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•If the majority of the Fediverse is going to defederate from Meta Threads, does that mean we will defederate from Tumblr too?

Fediverse@lemmy.world•10 days after 3rd party reddit app shutdown, Lemmy's top 10 instances combine for a thriving userbase of 234,000
10·3 years agoThe issue is that the page where the screenshot was taken from doesn’t allow to list both Lemmy instances and Kbin instances at the same time. You need to take two screenshots to show both services, or to use another listing source that shows all services you want to be shown, and I don’t know whether it exists or not.

18·3 years agoKbin is a link aggregator independent from Lemmy. It’s like talking about Mastodon and Pleroma.
Here is an example of awards on Kbin.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•lemmy.world has bent the knee to corporations. Consolidated comments into body.
32·3 years agoObviously, we’re only guests in the admin’s house, as long as the admin wants us to be there. But during the time I was on Mastodon, I saw some (de)federation discussions, and the admins said that most of the time: facts, not assumptions.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•I've been searching and finding circular logic and corporate level no-speak. Is there an official post clarifying as in YES or NO weather lemmy.world is defederating threads?
2·3 years agoThere should be a way to block or hide specific topics, like it can be done on Mastodon. The only way I see is to unsubscribe from communities/magazines where the Threads topic is or can be discussed.
