The main issue for me is not finding a device to play content, but a dumb screen that is not a potatoe. A 4k HDR OLED Screen without any smart features is basically nowhere to be found

What? Immich currently has 2 containers, plus 1 typesense, 1 redis and 1 db. That’s not really a lot compared to other stacks

Since when is checking for breaking changes a problem? You should do that every time you want to update. The Immich devs make a real good informing bout those and Immich in general is a bad example since it is still in so early and active development.

And if updating the compose file every once in a new moon is a hassle to you, I don’t want to know how you react when you have to update things in more hidden or complicated configs after an update

For real. Map persistent data out and then just docker compose pull && up. Theres nothing to it. Regular backups make reverting to previous container versions a breeze

Exactly, and in contrast to Jellyfin it actually looks like someone with expertise in UI has worked on theirs. I personally would also prefer a monetization similar to Immich, but the lifetime pass on sale is definitely money well spent.

Yeah, the new one was seemingly always just shy of being ready to use

That why I said ‘easily’, there’s no ready to go solution you could just plop into a compose file

As far as I know from my own attempt, you can’t easily self host the accounts part, only the syncserver
