I don’t buy any pis because they are $100+ in Canada.
Remember when it was supposed to be a cheap computer? Ya…
Insufferable FOSS/Linux nerds are ruining Lemmy.

Old CEO of Twitter is involved.
Usually when something turns to shit, and the original CEO leaves to create a similar product, people follow. With games, software, even hardware.
I think they deserve the same, too. 30+ years for both. Lets not lower the serial rapist sentence to match. Lets raise the vehicular homicide.
But if you copy/paste random commands from the internet and it breaks your distro you’re stupid.
But I’m not gonna tell you how to do it via GUI. So here, copy this terminal command.
Truth.
I try linux probably 2 times per year, every year, and at least hop between 5+ distros. Every time I run into issues, I ask the community, and I am completely shit on.
“Go back to microsoft you dumb fuck”. Like ok. Didn’t realize a distro completely nuking itself by me clicking update in the software manager was a me problem, but sure.
Every time you comment something like this, nice people come in and tell you how the Linux community is so accepting, followed by 30 comments telling you to kill yourself lmao.
I wonder why. You seem like a fine person who thinks forcefully having sex with multiple people without consent, potentially fucking them up for life mentally, and possibly physically, is only worthy of 3 years in prison.
I setup the VPN tunnel. It’s a toggle switch on my phone that allows me to access my network as if I was home. It’s free (using wireguard app), and way more secure, as my phone is the only device allowed to access it.
Downside is that I need to add devices manually if I wanted, but upside is that it’s super secure and not directly open to the web via domain.
Thanks! I didn’t realize how dead simple, and free, it was to use the WireGuard app on Android and built in Unraid VPN settings to create a VPN tunnel.
It took me 2 minutes and it’s a simple toggle to access my photos as if I was at home. Incredible!
I personally think the list will decrease. If Lemmy really takes off, i see a few instances sticking around.
Not everyone can afford to run a Lemmy instance with minimal donations, and I honestly see self hosters slowly thinning out.
I would imagine in the future Lemmy will be like 15 big instances, with like 5 of them hosting the vast majority of the users. Then drama will pop up, and they will all defederate, and we will have like 2 big instances.
I told someone I don’t believe in their magical sky creature, I believe in science. They told me the “magical sky creature created science”, so then I asked why they are against science if their God created it?
Never got a response. Religion is just picking and choosing your way through life while using a magical sky creature as your scape goat.

The law states that if you join .ca, you’re legally Canadian. Congrats on your new citizenship!
What country do…I mean did you belong to before you became Canadian?
No porn? Why?
.ca allows porn. You actually have to click “show NSFW” during sign up if you want to see it, so it’s not on by default, and it’s very easy to turn on/off if you want it.
I find that the instances that ban porn also ban a lot of other stuff that isn’t bad. Feels like I’m in church and everything is being censored.
Just checked. All of the “cheap” ones require you to order 2+, and then have insane shipping costs. The rest are $100-120 CAD.
I don’t think these things will ever be affordable. People who want one badly, will pay the money, and everyone knows it. No need to sell them at MSRP.
