Do people know how email works?

As far as i know, that is for the ad algorithm, not for youtube

I dont understand why you cant choose what things you want to be recommended to you

Hidden in the google account settings, you can find what googles algorithm thinks you like and remove inaccurate things

Being able to choose what it will show you would be cool and not require stealing your data to customize your feed

Google is the closest thing to that that i know, but their implementation is terrible

I have seen people not think someone with a gmail email could email to someone with a yahoo email

I have also seen teachers who teach ICT be confused when seeing a email that isnt one of the popular ones

Until you accidentally end up on an instance that defederated from lemmy.world and are confused why there are no cute cat pictures

Is there a way to easily find an instance based on what you want to use lemmy for, not just what the instance is about?

Discord and email worked for a long time with needing something extra after the name. Why would the fediverse be different?

I think we should let meta federated to the fediverse until they try to influence it or integrate ads in posts or something else that can hurt the fediverse

So by destroying twitter and moving people to mastodon, elon musk is ruining the fediverse
