Yep. When I tried Mastodon, I gave up again super fast, and I think I see why now. Thankyou, very interesting.
You don’t need to get someone elses curation, just do a search for your interests. It isn’t difficult. How odd that people don’t know how to look for stuff. I guess algorithms atrophied their ability to think for themselves…
I don’t see much linux stuff, not subscribed to it, but it is better here than seeing all that sodding windows propaganda everywhere. My opinion is that the feddiverse is mostly star trek, but again, probably what I happen to have subscribed to. Why did you subscribe to all the linux based interest groups if you aren’t interested in Linux?
Personally would avoid calling yourself what everything else is called. Yet another fire/fedi/fetid/fish. Show your imagination and call it mullet or something, at the very least.
Recently links have started working in-app instead of sending me out to access lemmy through firefox. But it is still next to impossible to link someone else to a place, you need to know a lot of new stuff.
Not that I would want to. There is still very little interesting content, it is almost all yank-oriented, with occasional input from Europeans. The euro input is nice, but doesn’t relate much to Oz, it’s more relatable than the stuff made and commented on by Americans, that’s all.
It’s fun, but like looking through a window at someone elses social area. It isn’t homelike by a longshot. And if I ever mention this, all the yanks stacks-on by calling me a c**t, which is actually rude to someone you don’t have a long term positive relationship with of a very specific agegroup, and causes me to leave their community because it was rude.
All in all, not really bothered if Lemmy doesn’t succeed, but hopeful it might evolve one day.
ABC iListen has audiobooks as podcasts. Not bad, all Aussie books. And their podcasts are great too, been listening to backissues of If You’re Listening and The History Lesson podcasts.
It is easier to get into. It is easier to continue with it. There is an obvious no-brainer app.
…Misread that as two years and had a double-take.
…The word has an alternate meaning here, but okay.
Fish.
Also macadamias, and lillipilli. And the cabbage tree palm. Warrigal Greens.
Coconuts, I expect.
I am yet to believe the humble blackberry is a cultivar.
Possibly kangaroo meat? Boomers such as the Eastern Grey are pretty unmanipulated, and taste like venison.
But mostly fish. And lobsters/crays/crabs.
Hijacking this because I have exactly the same complaints.
It says to change instances, but with no clue how to easily do that.
it just means signup again on a different domain name
That is not an easy way to solve that problem. Possibly there isn’t an easy one. It was enough difficult to get this account, I don’t see why I need several. I don’t want to have five different accounts with five different signon passwords etc. and the apps I’ve found so far all only support one sign on method, and none are very reliable.
Also, a lot of the posts are weird. Political.
I browse by Subscribed, I’m always surprised how many people browse All
That’s the default unfortunately. It’s often difficult to reset it to Subscribed again and Subscribed again and Subscribed again every time I click on anything interesting. I see the All stuff all too often, even if it’s just in passing.
When I end up on the front page, some days it’s the same stuff I read hours before.
sort by Top 6 Hours
I wish that worked. Probably does if you’re subscribed to much. But the turnover is just so tiny I guess.
Man I miss all the cat subs full of pics of cats. I didn’t realise how they buffered the more doomy posts until they went away.
Huh. Stuff I never expected to be unique to Oz.
Swimming with something that can’t get wet is not unheard of here. I sometimes swim a book over to somewhere to read, or a phone to a good place for a photo too.
As an Aussie, I don’t see why that is unusual. You use your feet. But if it’s only two icecreams, then you hold them both in one hand and swim with the other one. All I can say about this one though is that this is a very flat beach: Waves would ruin the icecream pretty bloody fast. Must be a river or something.
Do people not swim with icecreams in other countries?
So… Your values are…?
