I’ll have a look at that, thanks :)
I’ll have a look at that, thanks :)
I’ll have a look at Calibre Web Automated, thanks :)
I’ve set up wireless access to my Windows Calibre library but I thought the device needed to be physically connected first? I’m realising that I might be thinking of a different program though.
Not much with the server, as I’m finally finishing my switch to Mint on my main PC, now that I’ve finished the things I was stuck with Windows for.
I’m debating whether to put Calibre Web on my PC or media server, as the PC is easier to access, but the server is always on.
I’m also trying to figure out the best way to host a family Minecraft server. I’ve currently got two running at home and one remotely, but have managed to get a decent free tier Oracle server running too.
One of the Minecraft servers is staying local, as it’s just for the immediate family for our gaming sessions, but the other is for the kid’s cousins to join in too. Typically though, they haven’t wanted to play since I got the servers running, so I can’t tell which is best for them 🙈
I’ve been using Immich, but with my photos as external media. That lets me keep my directory structure too, but with the Immich features 🙂

Be careful with Mediamonkey. I’ve got it on my phone and PC, and my music is getting quieter and quieter on the phone. I think it’s something to do with the volume leveling on the Android version, but haven’t had a chance to figure it out yet.
I can put a song on full volume, and it’s quiet enough that it’s difficult to hear. I’ve tried the same tracks through youtube, and the volume is fine, so it’s not the phone speakers.

Yep. I’ve said this before, but I don’t understand how a community that only provides links to external communities is supposed to help Lemmy grow, as opposed to taking people away 🤷🏻♂️

That’s good to know, thanks :)
I’ve got a few services running on my aging media server, so I want to start doing it properly, and getting a proper home sever going. I’ve used ssh for some of the basics in the past, but I need to start using that more too :)

I’ve only just set it up, mainly for the facial recognition. I had no idea that it could do that type of search too. It’s going to be really helpful with my faulty brain and not remembering words 🙂

The team are helpful too, and helped me with a question when I set it up 🙂

If it’s anything like my server, it’s in the same room, but only connected to the power and network. You can open and close the drive, but it doesn’t have a keyboard, mouse, or monitor 👍

Thank you 🙂
Immich on its own looks good, but if I set it up, I think I’ll definitely install lightGallery to go with it 🙂

You can see [a live demo here](https://immich-demo.note.sx/share/ffSw63qnIYMtpmg0RNvOui0Dpio7BbxsObjvH8YZaobIjIAzl5n7zTX5d6EDHdOYEvo), which is serving a gallery straight out of my own Immich instance.
Sorry, off topic, but is this what Immich looks like out of the box, or have you used any other plugins?
Immich Public Proxy looks like exactly what I want for my family photos, but I haven’t looked into Immich yet. The demo looks beautiful, and is simple enough for the grandparents to use 🙂

Uncle Benned, or Obi Wan Kenobi Benned? 🤔
I like it! 😁
I didn’t say that it was being used to represent anyone, or that it was being stolen, I said that it was already in use. To use your examples, I’d think that using Pi or the degree symbol to represent the fediverse would be a bad idea too, as they could also lead to confusion. The semicolon is punctuation, so there’s less chance of confusion with that.
If an astronomy group made a poster with the three stars, would the stars be representing star clusters, or advertising that they’re on the fediverse? Given that the fediverse is still relatively small, is there more chance of the stars being seen as an astronomical symbol?
Am I misunderstanding this - you want to replace a recognised symbol with a symbol that’s already being used by another group? That seems counterproductive at best.
I’m also wondering, have you spoken to anyone with poor eyesight? This is my reply to a comment below suggesting that the new symbol would be easier to read:
I’m reading this thread on mobile, and the fediverse logo next to the community name is much easier to see than the three stars. If I didn’t already know what the three stars were from the rest of the post, I wouldn’t have a clue what they were supposed to be in the body. They look like a blurry capital A. Obviously the fediverse logo is bigger there, which helps, but it’s not significantly bigger, and would still be clearer at a smaller size

I had the same problem. Luckily for me I found out before they went past the 30 day?* window, so I was able to renew and then transfer them away.
*I can’t remember the exact length of the window, but I think that’s right.
That’s how I’ve currently got my phone and Fire tablet working, KOReader to Calibre over wifi, it’s the initial setup that I couldn’t remember.
I meant to check last night, but didn’t get a chance. More playing and tweaking needed tonight 😁
