There is still an active debate about whether Bridgy Fed should be opt-in or opt-out. As far as I can tell, however, they are working on implementing instance-level opt-in, meaning Gargon would have the ability to automatically enable bridging for mastodon.social users.

I wouldn’t really compare Bluesky to Mastodon. Ultimately, the Bluesky team still has control over what’s allowed on the app and what’s allowed on the network until third parties launch their own AppViews and relays.

Why would anyone be surprised by this? Zuckerberg would have to be a complete idiot to not use Instagram’s existing social graph for Threads.
