I think it depends on the instance. So check the instance rules that you are considering. Then message the mods and ask, I reckon!

Couldn’t you just create the communities on an existing server? Obviously it would be good to not be on the biggest one to help spread out the community, as that’s the point of federation. If it’s on a server with existing users, you’re more likely to get members join as it will show in their local feed.

Immich-go is what you’re looking for.

Sorry, must have spellchecked. Vikunja was indeed what I meant.

Vikings has a man an option and also allows task assignment to family members.

Yes, I only realised when you pointed it out before.

Yes, you need the pi separately. I didn’t know it was different tona standard pi. I thought all pis came without case and you could pick and choose what to add.

I have a Nas and use that for torrents, but it’s quite inderpowered. I use an old laptop as a home server for media. However, as it’s old, it’s not very efficient,.so I don’t want to leave it always on.
My router has PoE and this would have been an elegant solution. It works with a Pi, it just provides the form factor, was my understanding.

I’m just about to move house, which I thought was a perfect time to pick one up. I saw the news about no more new stock and then looked and everywhere that ships to me is out of stock.

I’d say you are getting conflicts. Can you put your isp router into bridge mode?

Which router is a router and which is a bridge? If they are both acting as routers, you may have conflicts. Is there only one dchp server? Can the openwrt router access internet (not clients) when proton is off.
If the transcoding is the problem, you could set up a sync thing folder that allows you to just drop on their media and have it sync across to them. It would be duplicated and I don’t know if it’s better than what you’re already doing but it’s simpler.

Grrrr
Haha, I don’t trust my own server either, but I don’t trust anyone elses even more.
Vaultwarden

On Lemmy, you might find it overwhelming by looking at the all communities feed and then blocking those you don’t like. Instead subscribe to the ones you want and then just view the subscribe feed.
Personally, I use all to find more content and block communities I don’t want. I then just jumpnjnto subscribed occasionally of there is too much junk.
It’s a shame that there aren’t finer controls, like to ramp up and down communities rather than just block or subscribe. Some communities, I wouldn’t mind seeing their popular posts but I don’t want to say the hordes of junk posts. Only option is to block.

Vaultwarden should!

Nice. I thought something like this was a great idea. My kids finished last year. I wonder if I can still log in and use it!
Or even any foss projects with social parts that are kid safe.
I’d love to let my kid play daily Scrabble with his grandma overseas with chat. However, .ost games seem to be open to all or closes to chat completely. There is no middle ground.
