Oh I thought we were on the shitposting or meme community.
Yeah this is a broad over exaggeration of the situation. Also using 4chan to drive a point is so over done to the point its a meme in itself.

People who keep touting the point that defederating from Meta means we are cutting people off from fediverse are picturing this situation wrong. Based on what I’ve read, people see this little island of people compared to the mainland where there will be physical barrier because shouldnt tear down the bridge.
But the net isnt like that. People have just as much freedom creating a Threads account as they do a Lemmy or Mastodon account.
And don’t say that the fediverse is too difficult to understand for the average person. That kind of rhetoric is what will push people away.
Everyone needs to be patient with growth. It’s not going to happen in a year just like it took years for reddit to grow. I do believe that more and more people will be interested in the fediverse once they realize that corporate oversight is non existent here. And that can only happen if we keep the major instances disconnected from Meta or any for profit company.
Anybody know how to use the weighted subscribed communities now, in Liftoff?
I’m so disappointed that it isn’t an overwhelming majority of votes against federating with Meta. How do most people not realize this is just their chance to take advantage of the fediverse? And like haven’t we heard enough bad things about Meta to avoid them?
I am extremely against federating with Threads.
Lmao
Sorry I also have to disagree. Maybe your doing it wrong and are part of the wrong communitoes. I dont do anything Linux and love the fediverse
With School back I session, can see Lemmy really starting to take off. Students chating Between classes and seeing friends using Lemmy and getting word out.
And Winter in the northern hemisphere means more people insidenand doing stuff on screens. User base should go up because of this too.
I don’t think we need to worry about Lemmy dying. It might take a while, but the user base will likely keep going up over many years. Just remember how new Lemmy really is.
Thanks for this. exactly what I was looking for.
Yeah I do hope active users base does start to go up again at some point. Maybe once winter is upon the northern hemisphere and people are cooped up inside.
But Lemmy has been having some rough growing pains lately. I just hope the issues doesn’t condemn it’s future success.
Uhhhhh. Yeah this was always something I was worried about with multiple instances. Having multiple usernames run my different people. The @ at the end will be crucial for people keep them separate

It’s been impressive how good lemmy has gotten in such a short time.
At this rate, Lemmy will be good as Reddit in less than 5 years.
Gotta give it time. Lemmy in general only took off like 6 weeks ago

thank you very helpful!
Yeah so far I’ve been pretty happy with it. It’s got a good UI
Great news. it’s also nice to see they are more accurately counting active users with the latest update. I still think Lemmy will surpast a million active users with in a year or two.
