I’m not saying mining in the background. Only at startup just like Anubis. I remember those scam sites too.

To be honest, I don’t like it either, but in the age of AI, site owners need to make money somehow.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Introducing Threadirator - A Threadiverse Community FederatorEnglish
1·22 days agoIt’s like a community. They present categories as AP Groups. This way, categories can be viewed as a community on Lemmy. For example:

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Introducing Threadirator - A Threadiverse Community FederatorEnglish
5·23 days agoCreator of Lemmy Federate here (not the main maintainer anymore, handed over to lemmy.world management). The reason I switched to DNS-based authentication is that not all software has messaging capabilities.
For example, WordPress doesn’t have messaging. Guppe uses a different messaging infrastructure based on Mastodon. Custom hobby software doesn’t have it either (blogs like chrastecky.dev). I’m not sure about messaging capabilities of NodeBB and Friendica but DNS-based authentication makes Lemmy Federate support all types of federated software that implements FEP-1b12: group federation.
For example, although Lemmy Federate currently doesn’t have any code specifically for Piefed, it does have Piefed support and 10 instances are already registered.
Forgejo’s most promising feature was federation, and unfortunately, they don’t seem to be working on that.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Looks like Lemmy-Federate is down, has been down for over a day.English
241·1 month agoHello, it will be up again, likely this weekend. Since I handed over my instance (https://lemy.lol/post/63832683), I had to remove it from the server.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•so... dubvee and dubvee tesseract shut down.English
9·10 months agoTesseract was functional but not as beautiful as Photon. I think I’ll stick with Photon.
Sadge. It was a pretty solid instance.
It was a nice map. If it still works I will try to redeploy it.
Edit: This is an early prototype of the lemmymap, not the latest version of it. I don’t think it’s worth to deploy. I may recreate it from scratch in my free time.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Search sucks! Yeah, it does, and here's why.English
9·11 months agoI think Meilisearch is pretty good. I throw it wherever possible and it works :) Implementing a custom solution is not worth it.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Migrating communities in the wake of the lemm.ee shutdownEnglish
2·1 year agoI don’t think banning users by the keyword “88” or defederating from an instance because it has “peepo” logo and accusing them of being (possible) nazis is not that effective. Or at least prone to false-positives.
Though downvote statistics stuff looks good.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Migrating communities in the wake of the lemm.ee shutdownEnglish
41·1 year agoYeah I don’t get this argument either. The user reports content and I can see it, no matter which instance they’re using. Does Piefed have a fully automatic autobot that fights spammers and we don’t know about it? :)
Now that they’re out, lemmy.zero?

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What should the subset of the Fediverse that is Lemmy + Mbin + PieFed be called?English
2·1 year agoAbsolutely. Sometimes I can be hard to understand (since English is not my native language), thanks for the clarity :)

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What should the subset of the Fediverse that is Lemmy + Mbin + PieFed be called?English
3·1 year agoInteresting. I didn’t realize my instance wasn’t federated with Piefed. I’ll contact the Piefed admins about this.
However, this issue is probably not related to Lemmy Federate because Piefed.social doesn’t even use it.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•What should the subset of the Fediverse that is Lemmy + Mbin + PieFed be called?English
2·1 year agoIIRC Lemmy and Mastodon PMs are different and incompatible. If you can receive PMs from Lemmy users then you should be able to receive auth codes. Currently @rikudou@lemmings.world is adding both Lemmy and Mastodon PMs here: https://github.com/ismailkarsli/lemmy-federate/pull/33
Also software other than Lemmy and Mbin needs to add ‘roleName: Administrator’ to their user webfinger requests. This is because ActivityPub doesn’t have a standard way to expose user roles.
I’m thinking of adding another ways of verifying like DNS based verification but still not sure. Any recommendations are welcome :)
Valid concern. Still, I don’t enjoy waiting for the anime girl to scan my browser too :)
