lol, forgot I was even on my feddit.uk account.
I’d already gone through blocking all of that stuff via my app before the defederation stuff happened, but if I were signing up to a new instance I’d appreciate it being blocked by default.

I would much rather signup to an instance that handles that for me.
As long as the instance is clear about what they defederate from and their reasons, then I’m happy with that. And if I wasn’t, I could choose a different instance.
I do not understand.
If you block the Linux communities, you’ll miss out on the Linux content??
I just clicked no, wasn’t that difficult tbh…
No pop-ups are acceptable to you.
If a site makes good content and doesn’t drown the actual article with ads then I’m not gonna begrudge a small mailing list pop-up, but each to their own.
Or, just a small site trying to make good content and engage users in a way that means they’ll return.
“BuT If I lIkE tHE CoNteNt I’lL CoMe BaCk AnYWay”, and some people would prefer a mailing list. There’s nothing inherently evil about a mailing list pop up…
It’s not a pop up ad, it’s a little pop up on the page asking to subscribe to a mailing list, I see them on most sites that host articles.
Do you just open up and then close like every site you visit??
Title says content isn’t loading through and is effectively defedarated, not actually defedarated like the admins have made a specific decision to do that.
Where does it say they’ve defedarated?
Seems like the federation is just broken for some reason, maybe load issues on Lemmy.world
Can’t see this doing well, who’s gonna want to host it and pay the bandwidth and storage costs?
I know people would be willing to do that for a YT alternative, but I don’t think there’s many people who want to shell out so some kid can post their cringe dance video.
Also, who tf gonna use it? I’d imagine Tik Tok users are the social media group that cares the least about the fediverse, open source, and privacy…
