What’s wrong with it?
What’s wrong with it?
It’s not all my data but I use backblaze for offsite backup. One of the reasons I can’t drop Windows. I don’t have anywhere I travel often enough to do a physical drop off and when I tried setting a file server up at my parents but they would break shit by fucking with their router every time they had an internet outage or moving it around (despite repeated being told to call me first).
How long does it take to break even from the pollution and electricity spent to make and install these?
Malwarebytes has worked out for me so far. I don’t think they offer it anymore though…
It’s saying sometimes people need to hear something that will hurt them in order to get better. Which is true but a lot of people take that as a green light to be an asshole when they find someone who is “wrong”.
Yeah if it looked like new reddit I wouldn’t be here. That site is ass. IDK how anyone can stand to use it.
Fuck the top comment. Old.Reddit is the only tolerable way to access that shithole. What “bells and whistles” do you want? It’s a fucking link aggregator.
Just played around with it a little and it is much more tolerable than OP makes it look like. I wasn’t able to get it as compact as the default view but I don’t hate it.
My other comment was blunt so here’s my attempt to be more constructive, this is all my personal opinion and my reaction was in response to making it the default I don’t think that you should stop working on it or even that I am objectively correct.
There is way too much empty space. I don’t use it but from OPs screenshot it appears this is to allow for larger thumbnails. It would be better to have them smaller and expandable if someone finds one interesting. Moving the thumbnails to the left of the text would eliminate all the blank space your eyes have to travel across to view them as well.
Shitty microsoft paint edits to demonstrate what I’m trying to say:
Freed up space in green:
Compact is certainly better than what OP showed. Frankly I’m fine with driving everyone that thinks the “cozy” view is acceptable away from this platform. I’m not interested in whatever other terrible opinions they’d be sharing here.
Yea, I hate that trend. Especially when it’s used for information pages about products and you have to constantly scroll around and deal with weird slideshow things to find what you’re looking for (if useful information is even present at all).
That UI is dogshit. Lemmy is a link aggregator and you’re saying it should show 2 links on the screen at a time? New Reddit is shit for the same reason.
I don’t care about the article. I’m asking you because you’ve stated your opinion that new reddit and I literally cannot understand it even when I try looking from other perspectives. There is nothing I can see that is better about new reddit. I don’t mean that to be confrontational towards you or to say you are wrong in it. I just would like to understand because it seems more and more things are going towards similar designs and I hate it.
New Reddit is only marginally better on mobile than on desktop. Old Reddit still blows it out of the water. 2 posts per page vs. 8 when I just checked. Not to mention new Reddit is just a lot slower in general and mixes links to other posts into the comments of the one you’re looking at.
How can you prefer this:
over this:
Yea, I used old.reddit.com even on my phone and it was fine. Their new design was fucking awful the last time I saw it. On top of that it was slow as shit. You spend more time looking at that fucking stupid spinning logo than you do seeing content.
Phone makers make no money if you don’t buy new phones
Maybe they should make a new phone thats desirable then. I’m still running on a phone from 2016 because there’s no modern one that wouldn’t lose me functionality that I use all the time. Anything I buy would be a downgrade.
So we’re still better off without them.
You don’t think the massive amount of repetitive jokes and reposts and overall shitty attention whoring content was a problem on Reddit?
Same. I’ve used SMB for years. Don’t have any problems with it across all my Windows and Android devices. Pretty sure I had an iPad in there at one point as well.
