@ernest actually fixed this at one point but it broke again with the big changes last month. I’m thinking he will fix it again sooner or later.
If you like international and eclectic news, come and join me at @worldwithoutus (Link for Lemmy = worldwithoutus).
I’ve also started helping out at @worldnews, (Link for Lemmy = worldnews), @movies, (Lemmy = movies), and am a ghost at @13thfloor (Lemmy = 13th Floor).

@shaked_coffee I made an account there and followed a bunch of people, but the federation aspect feels faux to me.
My profile there is basically just a redirect.
Extradite them.
Oh wait…

@NegativeLookBehind kbinDevlog. Personally I feel pretty chill about it.
I don’t think Ernest owes us anything. It’s his early development project, he didn’t specifically invite me here. I just showed up one day, and feel grateful to be able to come along for the ride.
@NegativeLookBehind pretty sure this outage was unscheduled, as Ernest usually warns us
At this point, I think I’m just going to create an alternate Lemmy account to avoid these blackouts.
You should. I have accounts all over the fediverse, probably one of the reasons I don’t get angsty if my main on kbin’s down.
I saw the word “survive” and for a second I thought we were talking about Threads, the postapocalyptic movie that scarred a generation.
I need more coffee.
@Fitik yes, but I did. There is something about kbin commenting that must strip it out again so that if you are on another instance it doesn’t link right. I had the same problem with your link that you have for mine.
I typed @mike@flipboard.com
At mike at flipboard dot com
@Gamers_Mate that works for me too but it’s because we’re both on kbin.social specifically.
Thanks, that didn’t work for me. Try @mike
@limelight79 that does sound like vote-to-disagree. I’m with you there, I don’t like it. Downvotes should be reserved for things that don’t contribute, like trolling and racism etc.
I also think it’s incredibly rude if two people are having an amicable discussion and one downvotes the other one. It’s like trying to punish them.
On kbin, votes are not anonymous, which has had the effect of making people downvote more sparingly. (Also, although we don’t federate downvotes from other instances so we can only see downvotes from kbiners, it also means our downvotes on other instances are pointless).
@tigeruppercut thanks. That was underwhelming. I don’t know why they post it so often!
There’s definitely a “downvote if you disagree” ethos here.
Is there? That’s a shame.
I’m on kbin and we don’t federate downvotes so I don’t see any of the downvotes the lemmings are giving to each other (or to me for that matter). Last time I hit “view on original instance” on lemmy.world I thought they might be developing that culture but I didn’t realize it has become rife across the Lemmys.
@setsneedtofeed this! We are building something here. Not sure where you post but I’m adding you to my follows so I’ll see your OC.
@Pregnenolone yeah I haven’t seen a single “this is the way” comment chain since I got here.
@tigeruppercut is that what “pigpoopballs” is??
I don’t see their images, just a line of text that I’m not about to click on. For some reason I was imagining little round balls made of poo, possibly in a pyramid shape.
@PopOfAfrica wait doesn’t lemmy have hashtags? Or do you just mean everyone should use them more?
Unless you’re in kbin.social, which doesn’t federate downvotes.
That said it’s still handy for other kbin users and a good indication that it’s been reported already.
