Frickin love RSS feed. I’ve actually gotten bad about populating it with my favorite YouTubers and the git projects I’ve been following lately. Plus archlinux news updates of course.
I use feeder though, it does the job but it doesn’t pull the websites directly.
I mean most of those are replacing platforms from meta and Twitter with fediverse based platforms but that’s not the point.
That last part is a huge bonus. It’s creepy how much information the get from watching your consumption habits. Imagion how many times you’ve stopped to look at an ad of something you were interested in just to see if it’s on sail or something.
Not even interacting with the ad they can gauge interest in certain categories let alone the product itself.
It’s so hard to find populated hashtags though. I wish there was more discourse on mastodon but it’s just people shouting into the void.
I love the enthusiasm but it’s funny to say posting to a platform that makes copies on other servers and opens up APIs that make it very easy to scrape and build a profile with a little scripting has any privacy.
It’s still better than meta or Twitter but your not private on these platforms. The companies that might make accounts to advertise from can easily be blocked and need to try harder to actually get your attention.
Just be weary AI and ad companies are probably already scraping these platforms and it’s thanks to the open nature and the inherent flaws of modern monolithic social media design.

The sad thing is the users in the comments on Reddit was starting to sour my mood before I switched.
It’s about as good as old reddit!? Isn’t that what people want? A website straight out of the early 2000s.😁

I see a lot of people posting and no one engaging with each other there. Honestly what’s the point if no one talks to each other.

As a dumb user I like gitlab! It’s responsive, clean, legible, and pretty easy to navigate compared to others. Also anything that supports git clone because it’s pretty nice for manually building stuff on arch.
I don’t know what your project is or if it’s going to be public but that’s my vote if it is!
I love Gentoo but I just can’t live with the compile times. Gentoo does a good job of letting you know how little you know about Linux and how deep the rabbit hole can get.
It’s the FOSS equivalent of have you turned it off and on again?
Gentoo, you never half to look at a terminal in that distro. Just white text scrolling on a black backdrop for infinity! The people who like to sit through the end credits of a movie would be ecstatic.
Bigger is better, that’s why I got a big truck on big wheels and only eat corndogs whole while enjoying it a little too much.
The dankest depths of archlinux wiki. Written by a guy so far gone, so war harden by reading through source code and poorly written technical documentation, ancient forums, leaving no stone unturned. A task so twisted it drives most men crazy.
1% of arch users will ever need this wiki and few have gone through this Herculean task. For them, the first draft is enough, it’s all you can ask of a mind so twisted and broken. Alas it’s as unreadable as the source code and as hard to understand as the forum post from 2009.
