4·3 months agoFYI beeper is really just matrix with bridges. Once I realized that I set up my own and now I have the same functionalities as beeper, self hosted, with a choice of clients.

3·3 months agoLet’s just say that whenever some other Fediverse server software is declared “the Swiss Army knife of the Fediverse”, then Hubzilla is the Leatherman Surge of the Fediverse by comparison. There’s just so much that you can do with it.
It has just about all the capabilities of a good blogging platform, up to and including its own WebDAV-enabled cloud file space that you can also use to upload images for your blog.
Sorry I don’t get it. It does blogs, correct? How is that a swiss army knife on steroids?

I know, but I’ll get on that after I find a job.
I very much have my eye on that. Pretty sure that’s going to be my next self-host just because I love everything about it, not so much because I’ll need it. Pleeeease federate. I know it’s a whole lot of work, but it would be a significant net benefit to all developers worldwide who code because they like it.
Add a little input box after clicking submit when things like alt text are missing? Seems like an easy problem.

2·4 months agoI’ve watched a fad called the internet completely envelope the planet. It’s pretty wild man.
Right? I still remember my parents and their friends telling me Internet will never take because if they want to know the weather they can turn on the radio. Glad I didn’t listen, it’s what has paid the bills ever since.

2·4 months agoYeah I noticed, finding the idea interesting i looked at what apps they have and it’s a 4chan clone, a reddit clone that doesn’t seem to load, an antispam (good), and some crypto things. Disappointing.
