Friendica is starting to seem like a fantastic option to serve as a hub account to the fediverse! There’s a reason people liked Facebook at one point, and I think they’re on the right track to advancing the idea with less corrupting influences

you’ll also need to remember to interact with the platform like you were with them in public, for a few reasons. Plus the Internet could stand to be less harsh
40k users is huge. Remember, lemmy is not profit driven. We don’t need to grow at all costs, we can grow naturally and sustainably.
the ‘O’ in REPORT feels like a directive to block, rather than do what you feel you need to avoid being brought into the issue. I’m sure if I put a few minutes into it I could come up with a recommendation on how to change it, but I’m emotionally exhausted today.
Give it time. The porn on lemmy is growing exponentially, so the more varied content will start trickling in. My guess is roughly 3 more months before the memes really start to pick up
… That also means figuring out how to get python to bootstrap itself. I’m in, just because I want to see how slow it would be lol
Ah yes, the real web 3. keep the good parts of web 1 and 2, while decentralizing the Internet for stronger User control
Personally, the only reason to come up with that kind of metric is to justify “profitability”. Lemmy is completely and entirely devoid of the need of profit, so imo it hasn’t, doesn’t and won’t matter
Facebook forgot it existed too, they just recently made it possible to delete threads accounts without deleting Instagram
I feel like peertube gets overlooked way too often. I love the idea and think it should be more used
I’m aware of that, I was hoping for like “since version x, this is what changed”
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated Python, is there a way to see everything that’s changed since 3.6?
The fediverse isn’t driven by profit, so growth for the sake of growth isn’t necessary. Word of mouth will let the fediverse platforms grow naturally and sustainably
I absolutely love it. I can’t wait for the fediverse to thrive with lemmy integration for peertube and an imgur alternative
Threads is using the protocol that the entire fediverse is using, called ActivityPub. The protocol allows for lemmy instances to communicate with each other and with other sites like kbin and mastodon. What lemmy.ml did is called defederation, so threads can’t communicate with lemmy.ml. This is to prevent meta/Instagram/Facebook from killing ActivityPub in the same manner Microsoft, IBM, and Google has killed open source protocols in the past.
Also it’s kinda practical to have an alt for lemmynsfw since account activity is openly available
For “knowing very little”, you fucking nailed that analogy. That’s exactly what Instagram is trying to pull here.
I think that it’s a pretty reasonable assumption that intersection of people familiar with alternativeto and the people interested in seeking Facebook alternatives on the fediverse are also more than capable of spinning up a friendica instance on an rpi
