It’s like a bouncing ball, social media starts small, and then it became bigger. It’s trending on becoming small again. In the future (barring civilization ending war/calamity) it’ll become big again due to some technological progress or shift in society.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy being used as a source nowEnglish
107·2 years agoThere’s definitely an LTT writer that’s active here.
Memes are always the lowest common denominator compared to more community specific oriented posts. A meme can be digested in 5 seconds or less so people are easier to upvote it and move along.
Compared to more specific posts that usually requires you to read the whole post or visit the link to truly digest and then decide whether you want to upvote it or not.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemma - TestFlight - Public Release 🚀English
5·3 years agoIt can still be built from the ground up but still uses the same design. If it’s a native app written in Swift not a PWA like Voyager I’d say that from the ground up still applies. Because you still need to code everything from scratch.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Mastodon is Rewinding the Clock on Social Media — in a Good WayEnglish
171·3 years agoThis, very much this. I’ve been having more pleasant discussions with random people replying to Mastodon posts compared to the brain parasites victim making their nest on xitter.
Yep, I also love the late 00s and early 10s feeling to Lemmy now. I find myself having more stuff done IRL since quitting reddit and browsing Lemmy occasionally.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Is lemmy growth coming to a halt?English
10·3 years agoYep, I’ve migrated but my time spent browsing Lemmy vs Reddit has tanked. Less than 10% of my previous time. This is due to still waiting for a Sync for Lemmy release and lemmy.world having issues with session. I’ve been unable to log in consistently since the hack.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•10 days after 3rd party reddit app shutdown, Lemmy's top 10 instances combine for a thriving userbase of 234,000English
2·3 years agoWhen I started browsing reddit only the most upvoted post break to thousands. Most just hover around 500s.
The thing that I love about Lemmy is at least it’s not as infected with bots as other places. It’s the equivalent of going to rancher’s market to get my spicy comments and bickering ya know.
