I mean if you just get super ninja 10x engineers, that’s like 40 engineers.

A big part of it is also that in the grand scheme of things, roombas are kind of gimmicky because they don’t really do the time consuming parts of cleaning, like moving furniture or dusting baseboards. The value proposition of paying more for different tiers of branded mediocrity just isn’t there.

A source for my lived experience? Or do you mean an example?
I have been banned from .ml twice for stating that Russia shot down a civilian airliner over Ukraine - a matter of incontrovertible fact which has absolutely nothing to do with any leftist theory, as far as my masters degree in political science can discern.

Tankies have literally adopted the same rhetoric as MAGA. It could not be more obvious that leftist spaces are absolutely infested with this.
Just to add that proper mesh systems are distinct from extenders as they will use separate mesh channels for back haul. They also have the “travel AP” things which act as extenders but form a new network on a different channel. You can actually do this with many Android phones as well.

It’s crazy how fast development moves when you don’t spend all day celebrating censoring your instance.
At first, it will probably work. But you will likely lose access after a few days and your servers will be scanned for exploits, so make sure your shit it up to date.
Source: hosted an XMPP server which was summarily banned after 2 days of access from China and then probed/attacked repeatedly until I took it offline.
Didn’t he stream a dead body in a Japanese suicide forest shortly after moving to Japan?

This is a bold lie that Nutomic keeps pushing. These donations go directly to Nutomic and Dessalines. The servers are not the problem. The problem is the admins who happen to be the devs.

Weird how if you are an asshole to your users it makes them into enemies.
I joined Lemmy with every intention to contribute and make a significant donation as well. But after getting banned and dogpiled for daring to say things like “Russia shot down a civilian airplane” and “the ML theory you are referencing does say what you claim it says,” I’m also here to say the fediverse will be better without cringe keyboard warriors like Dessalines and transphobes like Nutomic being involved with it. There are other projects to support.

I think people really underestimate how much goes into getting these algorithms tuned on legacy social media to create this kind of niche engagement. Actually I think there’s almost a cynical instinct here on Lemmy where that kind of effort would be rejected if it was seriously discussed.

Piefed implements an “attitude” system which tracks up vote ratio and a few other simple metrics mods can use to identify bad actors
Meh. At least pretending to be an adult feels like a pretty low bar.

Hah, I am all over that first thread already. Also in that second thread. This discussion is getting pretty out of band at this point, but I’ve actually thought about proper cryptographic solutions to this problem, but it would require modifying activity pub itself. Which is why I’m very much in favor of voting agent anarchy to force the issue.

Do you have a link to any discussions on this? I have browsed local posts on piefed.social but can’t find it. I’d be curious to see more context in support of the trusted instance concept.
It’s one of the reasons I think public voting is a terrible idea. It’s a wet dream for hyper-targeted engagement farming. Even to the point it creates a bit of a nightmare scenario for spear phishing and malware injection. The stated “transparency” benefits just seem incredibly trivial compared to the risk, especially when actual malicious actors will simply spam bots and alts, while actual users must navigate this weirdly huge threat surface for basically no good reason.
