But Amazon will just replace them for free without any trouble, which is why I tend to go to Amazon for sensitive hardware, for the peace of mind.
The last time I purchased something from another electronics store, it was faulty and they tried their absolute hardest to refuse to take it back and then still wanted me to pay for a courier to return it - congratulations, you lost a customer.
The point is, we are enjoying free content without any advertising and monetisation slapped on. If that happens, then we just leave, we are not demanding free content, we just consume it because it exists. The donation model is the only one that works in this space, or this space fails as another attempt at capitalism where it wasn’t needed or requested.

I don’t think having to swap sections on the app to use server and use messages will ever be a good change, the update added a lot of extra steps to find information. The original app worked like their desktop app, so it’s natural to use either, whereas now it’s completely different, crazy what was going through their heads with it (well money, trying to sell cosmetics).
But if you don’t mind it, that’s fair.
There’s been a lot of little things over the years, adding clutter and moving buttons around for no apparent reason. The usability is still pretty good overall, I avoid the community side mostly anyway nowadays and just use it to speak with friends. Most notably recently with the mobile app change, god that thing is the perfect example of shitty UX, luckily the old APKs still work.
I’d love people to move on to a more privacy respecting option, but getting people to move is an almost impossible task and the options arent all that great at the moment.
Yes, never put anything online that you might ever want to remove.
I actually did subscribe for it initially when nitro first became available, but they made so many shitty decisions that they no longer deserved my money.
Exactly, there’s valid complaints, but they are clutching at straws and just lying in their comment.
That would be a great addition, I could use it as a history of my hikes then!
What’s the scope of this, just a route catalogue or will it sort of become a hiking tracker as well?
I don’t use lemmy, so I don’t have to suffer it’s UI. I use Mbin/Kbin and the UI is almost perfect with the settings I changed, I get like 8-9 posts simply laid out with a little thumbnail and the title, no useless features or buttons. Just like old classic reddit, just slightly less compact.
But this “Photon UI” looks absolutely disgusting, I get it might be how the modern web is, but modern isn’t always a good thing, especially when talking about UI/UX.
