Packaging Stremio's GTK4 Shell: CEF Integration Adventures - VEJETA

Nine days debugging one function call, and other lessons from browser-engine integration Introduction When Stremio released their new GTK4-based shell using Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) instead of Qt5/QtWebEngine, it provided the perfect test case for my Debian packaging journey, specially after QT5 has become an End Of Life software that won’t be supported soon. Hi @Andres4NY@social.ridetrans.it Sorry for the delayed response. I just recently found your response.

I am so glad to read about you and want to thank you for all your work! Just to note that I have been keeping chromium-embedded-framework up to date with every Debian Chromium release in https://salsa.debian.org/mendezr/chromium-embedded-framework https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=915400

It is being reviewed by a DD. Do you think we can somehow start collaborating together, receive your feedback with the goal of having the package to experimental?

@Vejeta I can’t promise to package/include it, but looking at it is still on my todo list. The other work stuff has taken longer than expected, but once it wraps up I’m planning to look at your CEF stuff.

@Andres4NY@social.ridetrans.it Much appreciated! No rush. Let me know if you prefer other means of communication, through the ITP or RFS bugs, or otherwise. Your feedback will be invaluable and appreciated also by the DD already reviewing it.

The package should be already “good to go”, but surely with your experience you could find many things that could be improved.
