I feel like 75% of Mastodon are people talking about Linux. If you don’t care about Linux you feel alienated. I enjoy Mastodon and Lemmy, but the lack of more diverse subjects gets to me if I browse for too long.
Update: I took your advice and purchased a laptop for Linux, and now I care about it! Problem solved.
This is just remarkably dumb. Free currency? What does that even mean? You giving out free money? Or do you mean a currency with no value?
Money has a value, it’s the number on the coin, bill, note, or whatever you call it.
You see something for 10 quid, give 'em a tenner, it’s yours. Amazing.
Crypto on the other hand has failed as a currency. Far too volatile for commerce. Too many scams. It’s become a commodity to be traded, but it doesn’t exist, and has no inherent value, unlike other commodities that have a use other than to be traded.
That’s one half of the problem. The other half is that you have a choice between taking forever to get a transaction completed (Bitcoin can do about 10 transactions per second … WORLDWIDE!) or paying really horrifically high “gas” fees (Ethereum).
The third half (I flunked fractions: sue me!) is that 99.44% of the crypto world is just scams: open Ponzi schemes or concealed ones.
While I agree with you, I’m gonna have to take you up on your offer to sue you for flunking fractions. I’d be willing to settle out of court in exchange for one (1) funny meme, though.
Just use Monero
That would be the concealed Ponzi scheme I alluded to above.
I obviously mean free as in freedom. Also, normal money (fiat) also has no inherit value. But that one can be controlled by the government
