I haven’t checked Lemmy for a long time but I wanna get off Reddit again, yet I still need to know how many users are on here. Which lemmy instances are suitable to me, the most popular, and which ones to avoid? For context, im queer, anarchist with DemSoc leaning, and environmentalist. Is there a comprehensive list of all the instances and their main functions? Is the instance I’m on still workable? Any feedback would help, thx. <3

      We didn’t want to be lending any form of support to developers who deny genocide and promote transphobia.

      So we found a more ethical solution and than it turns out the developers are fucking amazing and it’s progressing so fast that it’s leaving Lemmy in the dust. Many people are now moving because it’s offering features and improvements that the Lemmy devs refused to.

            Tankies are people who supported the use of tanks to attack the civilian protests against the USSR in Hungary and later Czechoslovakia. That became the default term for anyone who supports brutal authoritarian states that suppress the people to assert their control. In modern day context a tankie would be someone who blames Ukraine for being invaded and denies the genocide of the Uyghurs.

            Some rightwing/centrists like to use it to insult any leftist. You can just ignore those ones.

              I wouldn’t call fascists or CIA- & bourgeois-backed counterrevolutionaries “civilians.”

                I said it before (in this thread) and I will say it again:

                ML are basically on par with Nazis; full endorsement of extermination of national identity/language/culture of “bad” ethnicities, support for russian Lebensraum, support for mass internment camps for “bad” ethnicities.

                Dessalines, an American, has never lived in Ukraine or russia, doesn’t speak Ukrainian or russian and yet he comes up with bullshit like “putin just wants to show he means business” or “war is war, civilian casualties are fine [as long as it’s Ukrainians]”.

                You never had any friends from Hungary or Czesh Republic, you’ve never been there.

                The USSR was total trash. Abject poverty, genocidal extermination of the cultrue and language of occupied nations, KGB goons in universities and a corrupt leadership that makes the current oligarch/criminal look like good guys. You’ve likely never met anyone who lived in the USSR.

                  you sound like you have an axe to grind. if you’re going to call people nazis for not supporting ukraine I’m going to point out that there’s plenty of Nazis that do support ukraine. I include in that list the instance run by a transphobe (sh.itjust.works) where they have a comm run by a bunch of “social democrats” and freely discuss all the ‘degenerate roaches’, which they can’t wait to be free from.

                  I don’t support ukraine, I don’t support russia, I oppose the war entirely and want people (yes even you) to no longer get sent to the front to die in an inter-capitalist conflict.

                    Thank you for proving my point (once again) about tankies supporting extermination of Ukrainian culture/identity/language and continued internment of tens of thousands of Ukrainians in the occupied territories (and mass discrimination and prosecution).

                    You even openly admit that you support putin’s “de-nazifiction of Ukraine” rhetoric.

                    You most definitely do not “oppose the war entirely”. Rejection of self determination for Ukrainians (and the right to speak in Ukrainian) is support for the russian invasion of Ukraine.
